A credit union is a not for profit cooperative financial institution. Credit Unions are mutual, co-operative societies which are governed by a volunteer Board of directors elected each year from the membership. Credit unions sole purpose is to serve their member-owners.
Today, most people have access to a credit union by virtue of where they live or work.
